Hindi Divas is celebrated every year on September 14th. Hindi Divas is celebrated throughout the country to commemorate historical events related to Hindi and to promote and disseminate the Hindi language. This celebration is mainly a government-sponsored event in Indian government offices, businesses, schools, and other institutions.
On September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly recognized Hindi as the official Devanagari language. Every year September 14th is celebrated as Hindi Divas.
History of Hindi Divas
Many Indian personalities from politics and literature have come together for years and have spoken out in favor of the adaptation of Hindi as the official language of the Republic of India. In addition to Gandhi, Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Kaka Kalelkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt, and Seth Govind Das were among the leading politicians who even debated in Parliament and recommended the adaptation of Hindi as an official language.
In 1918, Gandhi Ji recommended Hindi as the first person to speak Hindi as a national language during Hindi Sahitya Sammelan. On September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi as the official language of India written in the Devanagari alphabet. All Indian states that do not speak Hindi rejected the movement; therefore, English has also been declared an official language.
Significance of Hindi Divas
Although Hindi is the third most spoken language after English and Chinese, it is in danger of disappearing due to the growing popularity of English. Even in India, whose mother tongue is Hindi, English is becoming a widely used language in all states. Hindi Divas is celebrated to keep Hindi alive among people. Speaking and writing Hindi, we take a step forward one day a year to save Hindi from extinction.
Regarding the divas in Hindi, every Indian government office is asked to do its entire official Hindi work in order to preserve our native language from extinction. In Hindi divas, it is recommended to read, speak and write Hindi in Devanagari scriptures, which is important to prevent it from disappearing.

- Official Language Award
An institution, office, or organization that laudably advocates for the implementation of the Union’s official languages policy in India receives the Official Languages Award.
The Official Languages Department of the Ministry of Human Rights states in its guidelines on official languages the use of Hindi and English as official languages, as well as the conditions under which English is to be used. Price is a method to convince Hindi as an official language.
Importance of the Hindi language
Hindi is our mother tongue and everyone in our country must respect and honor the Hindi language. At present, everyone wants to learn and speak English to succeed in all areas.
But we must not forget our mother tongue and our interest in having a thorough knowledge as well as other necessities to succeed. For each country, language and culture play an important role in connecting people.
The wings of the mother tongue of an economically rich country grow faster when people in other countries want to learn that language, but never believe that their true identity depends on the language and culture of their country of origin. Every Indian must value Hindi language and culture.
It shows the history of India from antiquity to the future. The mother tongue plays an important role in the unification of the population of his country.
This is a very big event that gives people the opportunity to promote the Hindi language. This celebration will spark the enthusiasm of the country’s youth for the Hindi language.
Conclusion
Even after 71 years of Indian independence and 69 years of official recognition of the Republic of India, Hindi is still seeking recognition. As Indian citizens, it is our duty to practice and use Hindi in writing and in conversation to preserve and promote it.
Participate actively in Hindi Divas, whether you are an office worker, a government employee or a student, and choose to use Hindi for all your communications, for at least a day.
